1. What is a Business Cash Advance

Liberis provide small business finance in the form of a Business Cash Advance, a simple solution based on advancing your future customer credit and debit card payments. It enables you to access between £2.5k and £300k, which you only repay as your customers pay you. Find out more.

 

2. Is this a new concept?

Liberis is the first UK company to have introduced the idea of a Business Cash Advance back in 2007. Since then, we’ve invested over £230m in thousands of UK small businesses; with over 80% of eligible customers refinancing with us too!

 

3. How much could I get?

With our business finance alternative, we can provide you with anything between £2.5k and £300k. This amount will depend on your average monthly card takings; but typically we will advance up to 100% of this amount - so if on average you take £10k per month via card payments, this is how much you will qualify to be advanced - however, we can be flexible on this figure. 4. Will I qualify?

If you accept cards and take at least £2.5k of credit and debit card transactions a month we will try our best to say yes - and we do approve over 70% of applications! Ideally, you will have been in business for over 4 months too; unlike a small business grant or start up loan, unfortunately we don’t cater for brand new small businesses. But if your business is a little younger, we will see what we can do. Our aim is to provide small businesses with the money and support they need, so we work to be as flexible as possible to support applications.

 

5. Why do I need a card terminal?

Our Business Cash Advance provides a finance that is based on your future credit and debit card sales, so the card terminal is needed for you to pay back the money. We will agree on a percentage of repayment upfront, and you’ll pay it back automatically - keeping the majority of your earnings, but sending a small percentage of the funds our way. And remember, you keep 100% of your cash sales.

 

6. Do I need to switch my card terminal provider?

At Liberis we provide flexible business finance solutions, so we can work with all the leading terminal providers and we can work around your current arrangement, so just give us a call to discuss your options in more detail.

 

7. What credit checks do you perform and will they impact my credit score? 

We will use a number of sources of information to help us understand your business, including 3rd party credit bureau checks. We carry out both company and consumer credit bureau searches, which will leave a record of this search on both credit files, visible to other finance providers - however, neither credit score will be impacted.

 

8. What if my credit history isn’t squeaky clean?

That’s not a problem. Traditionally if you have a poor credit history, this could severely limit your chances of acquiring a business loan. However, unlike a bad credit business loan, we consider applications on an individual basis and assess whether the product is right for your business based on business potential - not just your credit history. That said, we are wholly committed to ensuring we are acting responsibly so, just as we do, you should think carefully about financial products for your business and seek appropriate advice when making decisions.

 

9. How much will it cost?

Our Business Cash Advance comes without any APR or setup/activation fees and we believe in being upfront with the costs and providing certainty to our customers. It comes at one fixed cost, with no penalties or additional fees ever added to your balance. We understand that no business is the same, so our pricing is unique to each account too. 10. Do you take any security or collateral?

A Business Cash Advance is an unsecured way of accessing finance. This means your home is not at risk. We will ask you for Personal Guarantees if you are applying as a limited company or limited liability partnership.

 

11. What documents can I submit as proof of identity?

We accept a number of different document types as proof of identity in your contract; and you can find the full list below.

Please note that the documents you submit must be photocopies, scans, or photos of original documents only. We will not accept screenshots of these documents, and please do not send us any original documents either.

  • Current valid passport
  • UK birth certificate issued within 12 months of the date of birth in full form including those issued by UK authorities overseas such as Embassies High Commissions and HM Forces
  • EEA member state identity card
  • Current UK or EEA photocard driving licence
  • Full old-style driving licence
  • Photographic registration cards for self-employed individuals in the construction industry - CIS4
  • Benefit book or original notification letter from Benefits Agency
  • Firearms or shotgun certificate
  • Residence permit issued by the Home Office to EEA nationals on sight of own country passport
  • National identity card bearing a photograph of the applicant
  • HMRC correspondence that includes National Insurance Number

 

12. What documents can I submit as proof of address?

Below are the document types Liberis will accept as proof of address.

As with your proof of identity, the documents you submit for proof of address must be photocopies, scans, or photos of original documents only. We will not accept screenshots of these documents, and please do not send us any original documents either.

  • Personal Bank Statement or Credit Card Statement
  • Personal Mortgage Statement
  • Utility Bill (gas, electricity, water, fixed landline telephone - not mobile phone)
  • Residential Council Tax Bill (current year)
  • HMRC Correspondence (e.g. PAYE coding notice / Tax Credit notification etc)
  • UK Driver's Licence
  • Land Registry Confidence of Address

Our simple cleverCheck tool will look at your individual circumstances and in some cases, we’ll be able to let you know if you’re approved before you apply!

14. How much am I eligible for?

To determine the amount we can fund you we look at a number of factors, including your previous average card takings and how long you have been in business. We’ll use this to assess how much funding we can offer you.

15. How is my quote calculated?

We use information from your business and credit history, and your future business potential to tailor the price to your individual circumstances. Our intelligent pricing means that we can adjust our rates to suit customers who have previously had a smooth ride with credit, and those whose history is not so squeaky clean.

  

16. Will my quote impact my credit score?

No. We’ll perform credit reference agency searches on the named business and business owners, their financial associates and businesses. A record of this search will be recorded against all business owners and may be seen by other companies if they carry out a credit enquiry, but your credit score will not be impacted.

  

17. Will my quote change?

Getting the right information from the credit bureau is essential for us to determine your price. The more accurate the information you give us up front the more accurate the quote we can give you.

 

18. Can I tailor my quote?

Absolutely. You can choose the amount of funding you need, and how quickly you’d like to pay it back. This determines the overall payback amount, which we’ll agree with you upfront.

 

Approval

19. Will I get a decision on funding?

For many customers we’ll also be able to let you know if you’re approved before you apply for funding with us. If that’s the case we stand by that decision, and you can apply with confidence, knowing you will be accepted. 

We can’t approve all enquiries through our cleverCheck, if that’s the case we’ll just need a few more details from you in order to get your decision.

 

20. How will I know how much I have left to repay?

Running a business is stressful enough as it is without having to chase up any financial repayments - we get it! That’s why we not only provide you with a clear monthly statement of how your repayment is going, but also offer you the use of myLiberis, our online customer portal where you can keep up to date with your repayments anytime, anywhere. You can also give us a call - Monday to Friday, between 9am and 6pm - and get your up-to-date balance over the phone.

 

21. What happens if I change my mind after receiving the funding?

We offer a peace of mind guarantee that means you can change your mind within 14 days of receiving the funding with no charge.

 

22. Can I repay early?

Yes! We offer a peace of mind guarantee means that you can change your mind within 14 days of receiving the funding with no charge. If you wish to repay after the first 14 days, but sooner than your estimated repayment period, you can do so. The fixed, upfront cost of finance will still apply when repaying early but there will be no additional fees.

 

23. What if I can’t pay back my advance?

Sometimes our customers find their situation changes or they need some help in repaying. The most important thing is to speak to us straight away, we have a great track record of working with customers and have some great support processes but we need to be able to work together and that starts with you talking to us.

 

24. Is there a time limit to pay back?

Our Business Cash Advance has been crafted as a funding product that is predicted to be repaid between 4-12 months, but the exact time it takes for you to pay it back is ultimately down to how your business performs. Compared to typical business loan we don’t have interest rates, so we’ll discuss all options with you from the beginning so everything is clear and understood. The total cost will be fixed, but you will only pay back as you earn.

 

25. Are there any fixed monthly payments?

No. There’s no APR and no fixed term. We only ever take repayments as a fixed percentage of your credit and debit card sales - and there are no other fees, penalty charges or hidden costs either. This works particularly well for seasonal businesses with a fluctuating cashflow as when business is quiet, you’ll pay back less. And if business is busy, you’ll be paying back more - always the same percentage of your card takings.

 

26. What can I spend the money on?

You can use your Business Cash Advance for any of your business’ needs, whether it’s purchasing stock or equipment, refurbishment or repairs, or simply bridging a dip in cashflow.

 

27. What if I have a complaint?

We try to do everything that we can to make sure that our customers receive the best possible service and are always treated fairly too. However, there may be times where we don’t get things right and the service you receive falls short of both of our expectations.
