The Health and Beauty Rooms

The Health and Beauty Rooms in Worthing is a luxury beauty, holistic and day spa. The spa offers an extensive range of beauty products and health treatments from some of the world’s leading companies, including Espa and Dermologica.

The business is owned and run by beauty and holistic therapist Emma Doggett. She started the company nine years ago, at the age of 25, and now employs nine staff members, and turns over some £180,000 a year.

The business survived the economic downturn through ‘battening down the hatches’, and is now busier than ever. Emma is introducing new treatments and expanding her team to meet demand.

“Business has just rocketed and it’s important we keep up with new treatments in the industry. There are new trends emerging all the time, which our customers want. That means, however, that we have to lay out the money up front for stock, equipment and training“ explains Emma.

Emma has received four Business Cash Advances from Liberis totalling over £32,000. This has enabled her to buy new equipment, purchase stock and send her staff on training courses to learn the latest health and beauty techniques.

Her first advance was to buy top of the range equipment to deliver non-surgical face-lifts. Within a week of receiving the advance, the machine was installed, her team were trained and Emma was providing a very in-demand service to her customers. So much so, that she made the return on her investment within just eight weeks.

“I started making a profit almost immediately and I didn’t even notice the payback coming off my takings at the end of the month. It was completely effortless, because the payback fitted with my cash flow” she says.

Emma found that a Business Cash Advance was the best funding solution she could find to purchase the equipment. The other option was to lease hire it from the manufacturer which would have taken three years to pay back, and Emma still wouldn’t own the equipment at the end of the payment period and would also be required to pay a final fee.

The second advance from Liberis of £8,000 was to buy new product stock, along with couches and steamers. Because Emma operates at the luxury end of the market, stock is expensive, but she has to pay her suppliers immediately.

Liberis’ Business Cash Advance has also helped Emma to stay ahead of the competition by improving her team training. She recently sent two of her staff members on a leading eyebrow artistry course which cost £1,000, but has undoubtedly paid off as the salon completed 300 treatments within four weeks, fully reaping the return on her investment and more.

Emma is currently capitalising on the latest vintage make up fashion trend. Using the Liberis advance, she also sent a couple of her therapists on a specialist make-up course and they are now much in demand for proms, weddings, and parties.

Emma says: “the Liberis team is amazing.  They’ve taken the time to get to know me and my business very well and are incredibly helpful. The money is always available quickly and they’ve even spoken directly to suppliers to confirm when the advance will be received.

“This type of funding makes it possible for me to invest in equipment, stock and training so I can provide the latest and most advanced health and beauty treatments for my customers. There’s simply no other funding option which would work as well for my business or even be available to me.”
