Our final Small Business of the Month goes to the flavourful Sauce Shop, Nottingham as nominated by Tim Greveson, our Technology Portfolio Manager.

Feeling frustrated with the poor quality and lack of fresh ingredients in supermarket sauces, condiment connoisseurs Pam and James came up with the idea for their own sauce shop in 2014; with Pam working on branding and design, and James experimenting with flavours in the kitchen.

Six months later and the packaged, perfected Sauce Shop was launched! They began selling their “craft sauces” at farmers markets and received such brilliant feedback that by the end of 2015 they already had around 40 stockists, an online store and a calendar packed full of food markets and festivals.

Since then, Sauce Shop have continued to grow and expand their range – even crowdfunding £5,000 to launch their new range of mayonnaise! – whilst continually expanding into more stores.

Of his nomination, Tim says: “Aside from their products being amazingly tasty, I think Sauce Shop are a great nomination due to the speed at which they have grown over the last year or two, their willingness to try different approaches to accessing funding and also promoting themselves. Over the next 12 months they have some really ambitious expansion plans and are starting to think about how they might finance them.”

Congratulations Sauce Shop! And don't forget, we're also counting down to crowning our Small Business of the Year - head over to our Twitter page for more details.
