COVID-19: Business as (un)usual
COVID-19: How We Can Help Small Businesses
Emma McCarthy

Covid-19 has had a massive impact on businesses across the globe already, and small, local businesses are often the ones who are affected the most. We want to put the spotlight on those businesses and share simple ways everyone can help them during these unpredictable times.
Shop locally
Where possible support local, small businesses. Although your big chain supermarket may not have pasta, your local corner shop might be able to help you. Buy only what you need – not only are you helping support a business that needs it right now, you will be helping the next customer that comes into the shop looking for the same items.
Eat locally
Social distancing is a priority right now, however, you can still eat local! Order dinner in for the house from a local restaurant through one of the many food delivery apps available. With the current situation, restaurants are now offering the option to leave the food at your doorstep, so you can avoid direct contact outside of your immediate household.
Memberships
Many businesses who work on a membership basis (gyms, yoga studios etc.) may have already been forced to shut, but you can keep your membership running! This is supporting their staff during this difficult time. Speak to them about how they can support your fitness goals remotely or what they can offer you in return for your continued loyalty.
Gift cards
Buying gift cards means you are giving money to a business who needs it in the short term and you will also have a nice treat to look forward to in the future – it’s a win-win!
It’s a difficult time for everyone, but by showing support of any means to those in our local communities we can help each other to continue operating during these unpredictable times.
